Our Story
In 2007, ZionHorizon was established by two dynamic, versatile, and multilingual emcees: Le Nomad, a Montreal-born emcee/griot of Haitian/Cuban descent, and Malik I.M. aka Sun Toucha, Toronto-born deejay emcee of Jamaican/Antiguan descent. They fuse hip hop emceeing, reggae deejaying, and live and digital production that fuses reggae kompa hiphop jazz and afro percussive riddims. Their music is heavy on the mental shaking your mind while shaking your waist at the same time.
ZionHorizon has performed in Santiago del Cuba at the JAZZ CLUB in 2014 and at small and large venues in Guelph, London, Toronto such as Opera House, Dundas Square, Harlem Restaurant and most recently AFROFEST in 2015. Nomad and Sun Touch are continuing to grow the brand of “3rd Ear Music” uniting in 2015 adding the sound system element featuring Digital Devilz Soundkrew selectah DJ GQ. DJ GQ was born in Georgetown, Guyana and he left at the age of 6 moving to Kingston, Jamaica where he lived for 10 years. It was there that he fell in love with music and his passion grew while hanging out with friends from school who formed Gravity Sound System.
He migrated to Toronto with his family in ’97 and founded the Digital Devilz SoundKrew in 2000 alongside Dj Dahru. After the birth of his daughter he used this time to rebuild and the sound was dismantled. Now, Dj GQ has combined forces with ZionHorizon. He brings the live mixing, high intensity toasting, and dubbing the vibes to ZionHorizon’s gmix of heavy consciousness lyrics and spine twisting production inspired by the livities of the Orishas, Vodun, and RastafarI. Their debut LP SPEAKING TO THE GLOBE produced at Blacklight Recordings here in Toronto is coming to a consciousness within you set for release in 2019.

Malik I.M. aka Sun Toucha @suntouchamusic, is a Toronto-born emcee/reggae deejay of Jamaican/Antiguan descent. His insightful lyrics and memorable punchlines routinely have the listener exercising the rewind-button and the DJ ‘wheeling’ the track. His Consciousness Raising EP was released in July 2018.

Le Nomad @nomadmc, is a Montreal-born emcee/griot of Haitian/Cuban descent. His versatile flow goes from incisive salvos to undulating harmonies as he toggles seamlessly between emcee, ‘sing-jay’ and singer.” A versatile musician and author, he is currently working on a Afrofuturism graphic novel and his own upcoming EP that will be primarily in French and Haitian Creole.
DJ GQ
Emcee & Deejay
Georgetown (Guyana)-born and Kingston (Jamaica) –raised DJ GQ @djgqremix. He is a musical chameleon whose patois-infused verses are matched by flawlessly-sung hooks and captivating ad-libs.
